Faculty of Architecture, KKU, joins forces with Bangkok Hospital Khon Kaen to win the Net Zero Healthcare Innovation Award

Faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University has successfully won the Net Zero Healthcare Innovation Award from the BDMS Awards 2024 Ceremony & President Award 2024 with the project “Upcycling Paper Pack: The Second Life of Hospital Waste” in collaboration with Bangkok Hospital Khon Kaen. The research team led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kesinee Srisongmuang, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kwanhathai Thada, and Assoc. Prof. Monthida Lertnimanoradee have developed an innovation to transform sterilized medical equipment wrapping cloth to maximize its benefits by creating valuable products such as bags, children’s hats, and children’s bibs. In addition to reducing the amount of medical waste, it also creates participation with the Sam Liam community in Khon Kaen Province in co-producing such products. This project reflects the commitment to creating innovations that take into account the environment and sustainable development, as well as promoting community participation in creating added value from medical waste materials. It is a successful model for integrating collaboration between educational institutions, hospitals, and local communities.
