One village, one professional Thai chef

KKU creates new generation chefs with “Master Thai Chef Program 1st Generation” to promote Thai food as a global soft power.

Recently, the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, in collaboration with the Faculty of Technology and the Office of Academic Services, Khon Kaen University, organized the project “One Village, One Professional Thai Chef (Master Thai Chef Program), Generation 1”, which was honored by Mr. Saowakit Preeprem (Chef Kitty), President of the Federation of Thai Chefs Associations, Chef Teerawit Disayachaipong (Chef Jaguar), under the supervision of Dr. Phongsaphan Satthathip, Deputy Dean for Industrial Relations and Sustainability, Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, who was in charge of the project. The activity started with an orientation for more than 38 participating students from the Bachelor of Business Administration program in Hospitality and Event Management, Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, and the Bachelor of Culinary Science and Technology, Faculty of Technology. In addition, there was an introduction to the use of the OFOS Thai Food system, which is a specialized online learning platform, and preparation for internships at leading establishments. Participating students in the program will learn to cook more than 50 Thai dishes through a blended learning method, both online and practical, totaling 240 hours, with Ms. Atiya Trappokpoon, a laboratory staff member. KKBS joins the Train The Trainer workshop “Master Thai Chef Program” to strengthen Thai food soft power.

Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Khon Kaen University, led by Dr. Phongsaphan Satthathip, Deputy Dean for Industrial Relations and Sustainability, along with Ms. Atiya Trappokpoon, Laboratory Staff, Ms. Phanthila Hiranno, Educational Specialist, and Ms. Nantaporn Khamsontha, General Affairs Manager, Expert, participated in the workshop to become a teacher (Train The Trainer) under the project "One Village, One Professional Thai Chef (Master Thai Chef Program)", which was held from January 6-10, 2025 at the Grand Ballroom, 3rd floor, Thai Food Learning Center Building, Food Institute, Bangkok, Ministry of Industry. This project is supported by the National Soft Power Strategy Committee, with the Office of Creative Culture Promotion or Thailand Creative Content Agency (THACCA) as the promoter of the One Family One Soft Power (OFOS) policy in food, a total of 23 courses, to enhance knowledge and skills for teachers in the professional Thai chef course and to enhance the ability to work in Thai food for personnel and interested persons.
