Amazing… Youngsters compete in silk weaving with their hands, continuing the wisdom of local people at the 2023 Northeastern Agricultural Fair
On January 28, 2023, the Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University organized a hand-spun silk competition (small silk) for youths under 15 years old under the 2023 Northeastern Agricultural Fair to promote the conservation, promotion and dissemination of local wisdom in various communities to youth, develop and promote the application of local wisdom to produce quality products that meet the needs of consumers in today's society. The committee chaired by Asst. Prof. Patcharaporn Phumichantuek, the subcommittee for the local wisdom competition and competition, the working group for agricultural promotion and development, Faculty of Agriculture, and the subcommittee from the Sericulture Department, was held at Sala Daeng, Agricultural Technology Park, Khon Kaen University. Asst. Prof. Patcharaporn Phumichantuek said, "The hand-spun silk competition (small silk) gives 1 hour to spin the silk. Those who pass the evaluation criteria must have the following results: silk weighing no less than 50 grams, silk consistency, smoothness, cleanliness, and silk aggregation, i.e., silk with few knots and well aggregation, neatness of raw silk skeins, and the color of the silk is natural and beautiful."
