Following on from June 20, 2019, Khon Kaen University signed a memorandum of understanding on academic cooperation on the study and establishment of a 5G testing center with Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS), with Asst. Prof. Dr. Denpong Sudphakdee, Vice President for Digital University Development Khon Kaen University co-signed at that time. The purpose of the MOU is to study, research, experiment, test services related to 5G technology that will be coming in the future to create academic knowledge that will lead to the development of innovations in 5G technology, including being able to use research and testing results to benefit the public and the industrial sector, including all sectors related to the development of 5G technology.
On December 13, 2019, the Library Office, as a representative of Khon Kaen University, participated in the presentation of the ultimate 5G innovations at the AIS 5g Bring future today event at Samyan Mitrtown, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wanida Kaen-Akat, Director of the Library Office Talking about the origin of bringing smart robots to work in the library, the innovation of artificial intelligence in natural language processing is used to provide information services to the library of Khon Kaen University with the first robot librarian in Thailand for students and users to communicate and interact in a virtual way. This service innovation helps promote creativity and creates new inspiration, improves the image, helps the library area not only store books, but also becomes both a learning resource and a playground, with toys and play equipment that are useful for students and users of the university, and promotes all kinds of learning mechanisms that will occur in the present era.
Mr. Kanok Meekunchar, Information Officer, Library Office One of the Librarian-Bot development teams provided information that Bannee and Bookky are Librarian-Bots that have been developed to work at the Khon Kaen University Library. They can talk and answer questions from users. 5G technology helps remember directions, control Smart Connected devices, and respond to robots faster and more accurately.
