The Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University has launched a strategic seminar for support staff to enhance operational efficiency and prepare the institution for national quality recognition.
On 4 June 2026, the Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University (KKU) advanced its commitment to organisational excellence by launching a seminar project entitled “Strengthening the Strategic Drive of Support Personnel”. Held from 4 to 6 June 2026 at the Phantaree Resort Khao Yai in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, the event drew over 40 key support staff members. The seminar was led by Assistant Professor Angkana Boonyued, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Science; Associate Professor Katcharin Siriwong, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Administration; and Assistant Professor Yaowapa Treekamol, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Enterprise and Social Development. The primary objective was to establish solid foundations and prepare the workforce for transition into a high-performance organisation.

Assistant Professor Boonyued presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a special lecture outlining the strategic direction of the faculty. She noted that the Faculty of Science has achieved proud success by meeting the EdPEx 300 criteria. The institution has now set a more challenging target of reaching 350 points to apply for the prestigious Thailand Quality Class (TQC) national quality award within the coming year.
Four-Year Strategic Drive (2026–2029)
The Dean revealed a comprehensive framework focusing on four key strategic areas designed to elevate the Faculty of Science to international standards:
-
High Competency Education: Shifting the educational paradigm from standard quality assurance to cultivating distinctive, contemporary competencies among graduates to meet modern demands.
-
Research & Innovation: Focussing on impactful, practical research that addresses industrial needs, particularly in fields concerning energy, the environment, and biodiversity.
-
Green Faculty: Developing the faculty into a model green organisation through concrete and sustainable systems for waste management, recycling, and carbon emission reduction.
-
Sustainable Community: Applying scientific knowledge to serve and develop society in alignment with Royal Initiatives, specifically through the Plant Genetic Conservation Project Under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (RSPG).
On 5 June 2026, the seminar focused on the ISO 9001 international standard and team-building activities. Mr. Phumarin Tangsitthisin, Quality Assurance and Quality Management Manager at Betagro Science Center Co., Ltd., served as the keynote speaker alongside his team. The sessions provided deep insights into the requirements and implementation procedures of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System. This knowledge enables support staff to integrate international standards into their workflows, ensuring safety, transparency, consistency, and highly replicable processes.
During the afternoon, interactive team-building sessions and creative recreational activities were conducted to strengthen collaborative skills. These exercises stimulated mutual interaction, fostered positive attitudes, and enhanced cross-departmental coordination, effectively boosting overall operational efficiency to achieve organizational targets.
The training and implementation of the ISO 9001 standard ensure that administrative support processes remain secure, transparent, and globally benchmarked, mirroring the international ISO/IEC 17025 certification already achieved by the faculty’s laboratories. Through comprehensive internal communication and a shared vision, the initiative aims to transform the Faculty of Science into a “Small Home, Big Faculty”—an institution that remains warm internally yet stands prominent externally.
“We will move forward together to ensure that both staff and students in our scientific home grow securely and safely in every dimension,” Assistant Professor Boonyued concluded.
This seminar reflects an administrative approach grounded in Management by Factual Information, in accordance with the institution’s SMART core values. Utilizing international standards as tools to elevate operational quality, whilst emphasizing the role of support personnel, underscores the faculty’s commitment to teamwork and inclusive participation.
The determination to meet TQC standards serves not only to enhance operational quality but also to inspire pride and motivation among personnel at all levels. This collective drive will propel the faculty toward its ultimate goal of becoming a leading institution dedicated to generating knowledge, fostering innovation, and developing highly skilled scientific talent for national sustainable development.
