The Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, organised an orientation and preparation activity for student teachers undertaking school practicum. The event focused on conveying operational guidelines, introducing online supervision innovations, and sharing experiences from professional teachers to ensure students were thoroughly prepared before commencing their placements in partner schools.
The activity, titled “Orientation and Preparation for School Practicum for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Student Teachers for Academic Year 2026,” was held on 5 May 2026, at the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University. Assoc. Prof. Issara Kanjak, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education, presided over the opening ceremony and delivered an address to the students, aiming to foster understanding of their roles and responsibilities and build confidence ahead of their practical placements.
The event consisted of various learning processes to impart essential knowledge and skills, including
Special Lecture: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jarunee Samat, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Director of the Professional Teacher Experience Center, along with Assoc. Prof. Onanong Ritruechai, Chairperson of the School-Based Practicum Course Coordination Committee for the School Practicum Course, lectured on “Roles and Responsibilities of Student Teachers and Regulations Related to School Practicum, Activity Calendar, Scope of Work, and Evaluation.” This aimed to establish clear operational standards.


Exchange Forum: The forum, titled “First Steps in the Teaching Profession: A Mentor Teacher’s Perspective – What to Know Before School Practicum,” was moderated by Lecturer Pasit Chai-ngam and Lecturer Prasita Manimont. Expert speakers shared their experiences, including Lecturer Piluntana Suppadol (Acting Deputy Director of Khon Kaen University Demonstration School, Primary Section), Dr. Saksit Hasamin (Experienced Teacher at Khon Kaen University Demonstration School, Modindaeng Secondary Section), and Mr. Ekamol Manasilp (Teacher at Baan Phia Faan Non Tun School).
Separate Meeting with Advisors: Students met with their respective group advisors in each field of study to receive specific guidance, prepare for tasks relevant to each school’s context, and get in-depth advice to build academic and psychological readiness.
Assoc. Prof. Issara Kanjak, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education, stated, “School practicum is a crucial period in which students will apply the knowledge and skills they have accumulated in real-life situations. I urge all students to recognise their role as representatives of the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, to act as good role models, and to dedicate themselves to becoming professional teachers who serve society with distinction. ”
This orientation and preparation activity forms part of the rigorous teacher training process at the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, which emphasises cultivating experience through hands-on practice to enhance the competencies of student teachers, preparing them to advance the quality of education sustainably.
