On 8 April 2026, the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, Khon Kaen University, organised the ‘Integrated Medical Technology and Physical Therapy Camp for the Community and the Elderly (MT & PT for Community)’ project at the auditorium of the Sriboonruang Sub-district Administrative Organisation in Chonnabot District, Khon Kaen Province. The event brought together faculty members, staff, and students to provide hands-on academic services to the local community.
The initiative was led by Associate Professor Anchalee Techasen, Assistant Dean for Student Potential and Academic Development, and Dr. Songpol Haoharn, Advisor to the Student Club. They were joined by a dedicated team of lecturers and staff, including Assistant Professor Molin Wongwattanakul, Dr. Phathoothong Chatchawan, Dr. Sutthiwan Janthamaala, Dr. Sathaporn Thongpoon, Associate Professor Orawan Buranruk, and Dr. Panupong Saiboonchan. Staff from the Medical Technology and Physical Therapy Health Service Centre and the Office of Academic and Student Development were also present to provide guidance and support to the students throughout the activities.
Associate Professor Anchalee Techasen explained that the project was the final activity of the Student Club for the 2025 academic year. “The objective is to provide academic services to the community and promote holistic public health by integrating knowledge from medical technology and physical therapy,” she said. “It also provides an invaluable opportunity for students to learn through direct, practical experience in a real-world setting.”
The camp featured a range of activities. The physical therapy (PT) component focused on educating caregivers, which included demonstrations and practical training on appropriate exercises to promote physical rehabilitation. The medical technology (MT) team offered health screenings for pesticide residues in the blood and conducted body composition assessments using a specialised analyser to help raise health awareness and reduce health risks among community members.
This project highlighted the students’ ability to apply their knowledge in practical situations while fostering a commitment to academic service for social benefit. It also contributed to developing service models that genuinely meet community needs. Furthermore, the initiative enhanced the students’ experiential learning, developing both their professional skills and social responsibility—essential foundations for their future careers as quality healthcare professionals.
