The initiative aims to equip educators with advanced skills to enhance classroom quality and adapt to new-era learning methodologies.
On 22 March 2026, the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN (IRDTP) organised a STEM & Coding workshop on the topic of ‘AI for Modern Teachers in a STEM Context’. The event was designed to promote the sustainable development of educational personnel by providing them with knowledge that can be applied and expanded upon in their respective institutions. With the goal of enhancing classroom quality for modern learning, the workshop attracted over 111 participants, including teachers, educational administrators, supervisors, students, and other educational staff.
The workshop featured distinguished speakers from various universities who shared their expertise on several key topics:
– “STEM Integration for Lifelong Learning”, presented by Associate Professor Dr. Pattamaporn Pimthong, a lecturer in the Division of Science Education, Department of Education, Faculty of Education at Kasetsart University. – “Examples of Vibe Coding Activities in STEM”, presented by Associate Professor Dr. Suthida Chamrat, Chairperson of the Master of Education Programme in Science Education and Deputy Director of the College of Lifelong Education at Chiang Mai University. – “Assessment and Evaluation for Modern Teachers Using AI”, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Chaninan Pruekpramool, a lecturer in the Department of Science Education, Faculty of Science at Srinakharinwirot University.
The event was officially opened by Assistant Professor Dr. Phongthanat Sae-joo, Director of the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN, who delivered the opening remarks and welcomed participants. Also in attendance were Assistant Professor Dr. Sakowduen Sathum, Deputy Director of the Institute, and Assistant Professor Dr. Romklao Jantharasee, Assistant Director for Professional Development and Academic Services, who oversaw the organisation of the workshop.

The workshop highlighted that learning approaches such as STEM Education and Coding are crucial tools for facilitating an educational paradigm shift from content-based learning to active learning and innovative thinking, enabling the creation of new solutions that meet real-world needs.
Through this initiative, IRDTP aims to promote and support inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4). The project also reflects the Institute’s mission to translate research-based knowledge into practical application, develop hands-on skills, and foster sustainable implementation in educational institutions. This contributes to enhancing classroom standards and building a strong foundation for developing highly competent human resources in Thailand and across the ASEAN region.
