On 25 March 2026, the Mekong–Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Week 2026 was held at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Bangkok to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the regional partnership among the six Mekong River countries: Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. The event, co-chaired by high-level representatives from Thailand and the People’s Republic of China, focused on sustainable development, water resource management, and socio-economic cooperation in the sub-region.
Associate Professor Jureerat Daduang, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, and Associate Professor Amonrat Chamnian-arsong, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Administration, attended the meeting and related activities as project leaders of a proposal funded by the MLC Special Fund for 2025.
Associate Professor Daduang stated that the Faculty’s participation in the 10th-anniversary celebration marked a significant milestone, reflecting the progress and tangible outcomes of past collaborations. She affirmed the Faculty’s commitment to operating on a foundation of cooperation and trust to maximise benefits for the public and society. This includes prioritising the development of knowledge in public health, science, and innovation while addressing future challenges in the environment and technology, and promoting the role of the younger generation in driving sustainable development.
Associate Professor Chamnian-arsong added that their participation was particularly significant as leaders of one of the 19 projects awarded funding from the MLC Special Fund for 2025. The Faculty’s successful project is titled, “Collaborative Project for Developing an Integrated Genomics and Precision Medicine Operational Plan in the Lancang-Mekong Region between China, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.” The project is led by Dean Daduang, with a team comprising Associate Professor Amonrat Chamnian-arsong, Assistant Professor Apinya Jussakul, Ph.D., Associate Professor Anchalee Techasen, Ph.D., Associate Professor Supawadee Yam-sri, Ph.D., Assistant Professor Molin Wongwattanakul, Ph.D., and researchers from China, Vietnam, and Laos.
This initiative builds on the success of the specialised medical technology training programme in genomics and precision medicine. It aims to create an international collaborative network within the Mekong region, focusing on knowledge exchange, personnel development, and elevating the standards of genomic and precision medicine diagnostic services to an international level.
This achievement highlights the prominent role of the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, Khon Kaen University, as a leader in academia, research, and international network-building, which will be a key mechanism for advancing the region’s health system sustainably.
