On 14–15 March 2026, the Faculty of Technology at Khon Kaen University organised the “Techno Powers for Social Creativity” camp, a collaborative initiative by the Faculty of Technology Student Union, the Academic Club, and the Faculty of Agriculture Student Union. The event, held at Nong Kung Sern Nong No Pattana School in Phu Wiang District, Khon Kaen, was designed to promote area-based learning and sustainable community engagement.
The activity took place within the Khon Kaen Geopark, which is currently undergoing evaluation for recognition as a UNESCO Global Geopark. This camp contributed to the geopark’s development by encouraging community participation, raising awareness of geological and environmental resources, and supporting local economic development through geotourism.
The event tangibly reflected the identity of EGGS KKU students:
- Entrepreneurial: Applying knowledge to create value from local resources.
- Global-minded: Developing a perspective connected to international standards.
- Growth-oriented: Learning from real-world experiences for continuous personal and professional development.
- Sustainable-focused: Promoting the sustainable use of resources and social responsibility.
Students shared knowledge in resource surveying, management, and the application of technology with local youth and community members, aligning with the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy model, which emphasises resource efficiency, value creation, and environmental sustainability.
Activities during the camp included academic knowledge-sharing sessions, school improvement projects such as painting buildings, sports and recreational activities, and a campfire gathering. These events helped foster strong relationships and collaborative learning among students, local youth, and the community—a crucial element for the sustainable development of the geopark.
Furthermore, the initiative corresponds with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 , SDG 8 , SDG 11 , SDG 12 , and SDG 17.

This initiative represents an important mechanism for strengthening Khon Kaen University’s role in integrated area-based development, while actively supporting the Khon Kaen Geopark’s progression towards UNESCO Global Geopark recognition through the engagement of youth and local communities.
