New Master’s Programme in Applied Mathematics, Integrating AI and Data Science, Presented to Prospective Students
15 March 2026 – The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University, led by Assistant Professor Weerachai Sarakorn, Ph.D., Chair of the Applied Mathematics Programme, together with the programme curriculum committee, organised a Graduate Programme Roadshow across three Northeastern provinces: Roi Et, Udon Thani, and Sakon Nakhon.
The event, held from 17–20 February 2026, aimed to expand higher education opportunities and strengthen academic networks with regional institutions. A key highlight of the roadshow was the newly revised 2026 Master of Science in Applied Mathematics curriculum, which integrates Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning to respond to the growing demands of the digital-era labour market.
On 17 February 2026, the curriculum committee conducted a proactive promotional session at Roi Et Rajabhat University, providing information to students in mathematics and related fields. The presentation highlighted:
- Study Pathways: The flexible structure of the M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics, offering both research tracks (Thesis-based, Type A1 and A2) and a professional track (Coursework-based, Type B).
- Research & Academic Opportunities: Guidance on collaborative research projects with expert faculty members and various scholarship opportunities.
- Career Paths: A wide range of career options in fields such as computation, industrial applications, finance, and insurance.
On 19 February 2026, the committee attended the 13th National Conference in Mathematics at Udon Thani Rajabhat University (Sam Phrao Campus). This national platform brought together academics and researchers in mathematics from Rajabhat universities across the country to exchange knowledge. The committee participated in discussions, presented research to peers, and strengthened inter-institutional collaborations to advance mathematics education and research in the region. The event also served as an excellent opportunity to promote the programme, offering in-depth information and showcasing the advantages of the newly revised curriculum to prospective graduate students.
On 20 February 2026, the committee travelled to Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University to conduct a similar proactive guidance session as the one held in Roi Et. This event was designed to comprehensively reach target student groups in the area, inspiring them and illustrating the diverse and challenging career futures available in applied mathematics. The session drew significant interest from students eager to develop skills in data analysis and the application of mathematics in the modern digital world.
The Graduate Programme Roadshow organised by the Department of Mathematics represents an important step in expanding academic networks and promoting access to postgraduate education across Northeastern Thailand.
This initiative aligns with the Faculty of Science’s vision to be a leading faculty that generates knowledge, innovation, and high-quality scientific human resources for national development.
By integrating advanced technologies such as Data Science, AI, and Machine Learning into its curriculum, the programme not only addresses the needs of the modern labour market but also prepares a new generation of applied mathematicians capable of driving innovation and supporting Thailand’s sustainable economic and social development.
