Faculty of Education, KKU, the Education Alumni Association, and Nong Khai PESAO 1 Launch “R&D x AI” Project to Empower Teachers in the Digital Age and Elevate Thai Education Quality

On 7 March 2026, the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with the Education Alumni Association and the Nong Khai Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 (Nong Khai PESAO 1), organised a workshop titled “R&D x AI: A New Power in Developing Teachers and Educational Personnel Towards Quality Learning Management.” The event was held at Nong Khai PESAO 1 and represents an important initiative under the strategy “KKU Teachers Never Expire,” which aims to strengthen professional networks and prepare educators to address the challenges of 21st-century education.

During the event, Assoc. Prof. Wayu Kanjanasorn, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Sustainable Society, delivered the report on the project’s objectives. The project focuses on up-skilling and re-skilling to “reignite passion and dreams” while fostering a sustainable bond between the institution and its alumni.

Meanwhile, Asst. Prof. Sarawut Jakpeng, Ph.D., President of the Education Alumni Association, welcomed the attendees who traveled from various regions, emphasizing the crucial role of the alumni network:

“The Alumni Association is committed to being a vital mechanism in connecting our brothers and sisters in the teaching profession. We firmly believe that the power of a strong network, when combined with the consistent integration of new innovations, will be a tremendous driving force in distributing opportunities and elevating learning management to classrooms in every region across the country.”

Assoc. Prof. Issara Kanjug, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education at Khon Kaen University and the chair of the opening ceremony, delivered a profound vision aligned with current educational trends:

“The workshop topic, R&D x AI, reflects the necessity of integrating research and development with artificial intelligence. This is a key factor in unlocking the competencies of teachers and educational personnel. AI will serve as a tool to reduce redundant tasks, allowing us more time to dedicate to designing high-quality learning experiences that respond to diverse learners and align with the context of the digital society. I strongly believe that this workshop will enhance knowledge, develop skills, and spark inspiration for all of you to apply technology to transform your classrooms. It will also forge a robust collaborative network, ultimately leading to the sustainable development of the nation’s educational quality.”

The workshop atmosphere was warm and highly engaging, with more than 130 school administrators and teachers from several provinces—including Nong Khai, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Kalasin, Bueng Kan, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya—participating in the event.

Through hands-on sessions led by expert speakers, participants were able to apply AI technologies directly to the development of innovative teaching materials. The success of the project reinforces Khon Kaen University’s commitment to advancing the teaching profession, while inspiring educators to apply their newly acquired knowledge to transform classroom learning experiences and become creative educators who continue to grow and adapt in every era.
