The College of Local Administration, Khon Kaen University, and the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, Chiang Mai University, have established a “Strategic Academic Partnership” to enhance academic development, research, and community services in a concrete and sustainable manner.
On 24 February 2026, the College of Local Administration (COLA) at Khon Kaen University, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Sirisak Laochankham, Dean of the College, along with administrators, faculty, and staff, participated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration at Chiang Mai University. The Chiang Mai University delegation was led by Associate Professor Dr. Palin Phu-charoen, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, accompanied by executives, lecturers, and personnel from both institutions. The ceremony took place in the Strategy Meeting Room on the second floor of the 50th Anniversary Building, Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, Chiang Mai University.
This collaboration elevates institutional relations to a formal Strategic Academic Partnership, designed to strengthen cooperation between two of Thailand’s leading institutions in political science and local governance. The primary objective is to promote measurable and sustainable progress in academic development, research output, and academic services to society.
Beyond the signing ceremony, both parties discussed future operational plans, focusing on joint curriculum development and instruction, instructor exchanges for various courses, and exchanges for students and support staff. The partnership also includes organising activities to enhance student leadership and potential, as well as co-hosting national and international academic conferences.
This agreement represents a significant step in integrating the knowledge and academic resources of both institutions. By working together, they aim to address key issues in political science and local development that respond to the evolving contexts of Thai and global society. This will ultimately lead to a sustained positive impact in both academic and public spheres.
