10th KKU International Emergency Medicine Challenge Concludes 12 Teams from Three Countries Showcase High-Level Emergency Medicine Skills

On 6–10 February 2026, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (KKU), organised the 10th Khon Kaen University International Challenge of Emergency Medicine and Related Basic Sciences (10th KKU ICEM 2026). This significant event served as a crucial platform gathering 12 teams of exceptional medical students, featuring representatives from leading medical schools in Thailand, Japan, and the Philippines. The challenge provided an opportunity for participants to test their knowledge and abilities while exchanging academic experiences at the Mittraphap Meeting Room, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University.

Associate Professor Pattarapong Makarawate, M.D., MSc, FHRS, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, reflected on the challenge, noting that hosting the event for the tenth time demonstrates the faculty’s consistent dedication and commitment to promoting academic excellence in emergency medicine. Furthermore, it strengthens collaborative networks among medical educational institutions at the international level, particularly within the Asian region.

The competition was supported by the Division of Emergency Medicine, faculty members, and related units within the Faculty of Medicine. Beyond technical assessment, the programme fostered academic exchange, professional networking, and intercultural friendship among future physicians from different countries. Such interaction contributes to long-term international academic partnerships and strengthens regional cooperation in medical education.
