KKU Partners with FIU, USA, to Elevate Education and Research to International Standards

On 11 February 2026, at 16:00 hrs, Khon Kaen University (KKU) held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Florida International University (FIU), United States of America. The ceremony took place in Meeting Room Sirikunakorn 5, 6th Floor, Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University.

Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., KKU President, presided over the ceremony. He was joined by executives from the KKU Office of International Affairs and representatives from the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, the Faculty of Nursing, the Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. They officially welcomed Professor Kawkeat Kengskul, Director of International Programs for Southeast Asia, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering and Computing, Florida International University.

 

Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul stated, “It is a great pleasure to welcome Professor Kawkeat Kengskul. Expanding academic cooperation with institutions in the United States is both significant and challenging in the current era. This MOU signing marks an important starting point for fostering future collaboration.”

Professor Kawkeat Kengskul remarked, “On behalf of FIU, I am delighted to establish this MOU with Khon Kaen University. The crucial next step is to conduct an in-depth needs assessment for each faculty (Make a list) to identify concrete common interests and contact points that will yield tangible outcomes.”

 

 

  

This collaboration is a vital step in promoting capabilities in education and research. KKU and FIU share the common goal of advancing cooperation across major fields, including Engineering, Business Administration and Tourism, Nursing, Medicine, and ASEAN Studies. Furthermore, the partnership includes support for doctoral scholarships for students pursuing studies at Florida International University in the United States.
