Faculty of Law, KKU, and Police Region 4 Launch Third Young Lawyers and Police Engagement (YLPE) Programme

Elevating Legal Education Through Experiential Learning in a ‘Special LawLab’

On 3 February 2026, the Faculty of Law, Khon Kaen University (KKU), in collaboration with Police Region 4, inaugurated the third Young Lawyers and Police Engagement (YLPE) Programme. The programme, operating under the concept of a “Special LawLab,” serves as a legal laboratory that integrates learning from real-world situations (Experiential Learning) through the course LW 014609 Modern Police Administration. Its primary objective is to cultivate a new generation of legal professionals with deep, practice-oriented understanding of police operations.

Mr. Worawit Chaiyata, Deputy Dean for Planning, Educational Quality Development, and Sustainability, stated, “YLPE Batch 3 represents a further advancement building upon the success of the previous cohorts. We focused on designing activities that allow students to engage closely with police duties, ranging from investigation processes and law enforcement to organisational management. This immersive exposure equips students with practical legal insight and strengthens their ability to apply legal knowledge effectively in professional contexts.”

The opening ceremony was presided over by Police Major General Noppakao Sommanat, Deputy Commissioner of Police Region 4. In his remarks on the importance of the programme, Police Major General Noppakao affirmed, “Police Region 4 prioritises developing cooperation between law enforcement agencies and academic institutions. The YLPE programme provides an excellent platform for fostering mutual understanding and bridging the gap between theory and practice. We are prepared to offer students the opportunity to learn from the real-life experiences of our officers and collaborate in enhancing the efficiency of the justice system.”

The YLPE programme is a clear example of connecting classroom learning to practical application. The Faculty is committed to producing graduates equipped with both theoretical knowledge and problem-solving skills in real-world scenarios. This initiative will foster strong mutual understanding between law students and police officers, thereby laying a crucial foundation for future societal collaboration.
