Khon Kaen University (KKU) continues to strengthen its educational transformation through a hands-on curriculum development workshop under the theme “Designing Curricula for a World That No Longer Exists.” The initiative aims to empower curriculum developers with future-oriented perspectives, ensuring that learning outcomes align with rapid global changes and the evolving demands of society and the AI-driven workforce.
On 2 February 2025, the Bureau of Academic and Development at Khon Kaen University organized a curriculum analysis and development workshop focusing on overall curriculum review and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs). The workshop was designed to enhance participants’ capacity to design curricula that are responsive, distinctive, and sustainable in a rapidly changing world.
The event was honored by the presence of distinguished speakers and academic leaders, including Assistant Professor Anucha Somabut, Vice President for Education; Assistant Professor Piyawat Saipan, Director of the Office of Academic Administration and Development; and Associate Professor Wannawipa Kaewpradit Pholpinit, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, together with members of the University Curriculum Review Committee.
The workshop delivered intensive content across three key dimensions:
1. Analyzing global and external factors to define future curriculum goals,
2. Developing curricula in alignment with — and beyond — higher education standards, and
3. Identifying curriculum strengths to build sustainable competitive advantages.
Assistant Professor Piyawat Saipan highlighted that today’s major challenge lies in the pace of change in the world of work, which far exceeds traditional curriculum revision cycles. Modern curriculum design, therefore, must go beyond content updates and adopt a forward-looking approach, particularly in preparing graduates with competencies that cannot be easily replaced by AI.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Wanwipa Kaewpradit Plopinit emphasized the importance of aligning curriculum development with the latest higher education standards through systematic and transparent processes. Such alignment not only supports quality assurance but also enables continuous curriculum adaptation in response to global uncertainties.
Assistant Professor Anucha Somabut presented strategic frameworks and tools for modern curriculum design, illustrating how various components can be integrated holistically. The workshop also included practical sessions with close guidance from curriculum review committee members, namely Professor Teerasak Damrongrungruang, Associate Professor Panitarn Peerapattana, Associate Professor Vispat Chaichuay, and Associate Professor Khemika Lomthaisong, enabling participants to apply the concepts directly to real-world curriculum development.
This initiative marks another significant step in Khon Kaen University’s proactive education reform, reinforcing curriculum excellence and preparing graduates to become value creators capable of thriving in an ever-evolving global landscape.
