Faculty of Agriculture Enhances Broadcast Skills for Northeast Agricultural Fair 2026

KKU’s Corporate Communications Division provides professional training to student volunteers, bolstering their communication skills in preparation for the upcoming annual agricultural event.

Khon Kaen – On Thursday, 15 January 2026, from 13:30 hrs to 17:00 hrs, the Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University (KKU), organised a practical workshop titled “Speech and Public Address System Broadcasting Skills.” The training took place at Room 8003, 1st Floor, AG 08 Building, Faculty of Agriculture, and was designed for student volunteers preparing to serve as public relations officers during the Northeast Agricultural Fair 2026. The fair is scheduled from 23 January to 1 February 2026, under the concept: “Market-led, Innovation-enhanced, Income-generating, Environmentally Conscious.”

The Corporate Communications Division tasked Ms. Benjamaporn Mamook, a Senior Professional Public Relations Officer, with leading the training session. Assistant Professor Dr. Thidarat Monkham, Chair of the Public Relations Sub-Committee for the Northeast Agricultural Fair, delivered the opening address.

Assistant Professor Dr. Thidarat Monkham stated that the workshop is held annually, allowing interested students from all years to participate without limitation. The primary goal is to build confidence and essential skills for students undertaking the role of public address system announcers, which is a crucial mechanism for communicating with the diverse audience attending the fair.

“Public relations does not only involve speaking through a microphone; it also encompasses direct communication with people,” Dr. Monkham explained. “Understanding their roles, duties, and proper regulations will help students gain valuable experience that they can transfer to various aspects of their future, including career opportunities and personal development.”

The comprehensive training covered both theory and practice, addressing topics such as the importance of the public address system in large-scale events, the roles and duties of an announcer, vocal techniques and pronunciation, creating engaging programmes, using accessible language, and managing unexpected situations like schedule changes or inclement weather. The training underlined the four core elements of an effective announcer: clarity, confidence, appeal, and purpose. Students were also given opportunities to practise scriptwriting and reading aloud in preparation for their actual duties.

Ms. Benjamaporn Mamook, the key trainer, commented that the workshop aimed to equip participants with communication skills necessary to convey information clearly, concisely, and appropriately within the context of the Northeast Agricultural Fair, a large event that attracts many different groups of visitors.

“The public address system remains a crucial tool for providing information, maintaining order, and setting the atmosphere of the event,” Ms. Benjamaporn noted. “A good voice is not just a loud voice; it is one that communicates effectively and ensures the smooth operation of the fair.”

Mr. Panrawut Janthanamasri, a second-year Entomology student and one of the participants, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to learn public relations skills for the first time. He described the workshop atmosphere as friendly and helpful in reducing nervousness. He noted that the knowledge gained could be applied both in the fair and in daily life, such as public speaking or future job applications and interviews.

This training initiative reflects Khon Kaen University’s dedication to developing students’ comprehensive potential, preparing them to be vital forces in communicating and driving academic and social activities. This aligns with KKU’s sustainable pursuit of institutional excellence and contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Northeast Agricultural Fair 2026 is jointly organised by Khon Kaen University, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Khon Kaen Province. The trained student volunteers will rotate shifts to manage the public address system throughout the event, ensuring effective information dissemination, timely schedule updates, and excellent service provision, thus creating positive experiences for all attendees.

Interested members of the public are invited to attend the fair from 23 January to 1 February 2026, at the Khon Kaen University Agricultural Technology Park.
