The warm hospitality of the local community and the comfortable, cool weather—at just 14 °C—helped many runners achieve their personal bests.”

The competition not only raised sporting standards but is also projected to stimulate the local economy by over 100 million baht, elegantly reaffirming Khon Kaen’s status as a liveable metropolis and the sports tourism hub of the Northeast region.

The Khon Kaen International Marathon 2026 was hosted successfully over two consecutive days. On 10 January 2026, the event featured the Kids Run and Fun Run categories under the theme “Fun Run and Fun Learn.” The international standard races, held on 11 January 2026 under the theme “The Legend of Isan Running,” serve as a vital mechanism in driving Khon Kaen University toward its goal of becoming A World-Leading Research and Development University. This supports the university’s Internationalisation policy, aimed at creating awareness and Visibility on the Global Stage, while also strengthening concrete ecosystems of collaboration with global partners.
