Khon Kaen University Demonstration School Hosts International Day for Young Learners

The Demonstration School of Khon Kaen University (Kindergarten Section) held its “International Day 2025” event on December 12, 2028, to promote cultural diversity and global awareness among its young students. The event, which began at 9:00 a.m., was attended by over 900 faculty members, staff, parents, and kindergarten students.

The primary goal of the event was to provide students with direct experience of diverse global cultures, fostering positive attitudes towards different nationalities, religions, and traditions. The activities were also designed to enhance the children’s communication skills and creativity.

Assistant Professor Dr. Sarawut Chakpeng, the school’s director, presided over the opening ceremony. In his address, he emphasized the event’s importance in broadening the children’s horizons in an increasingly borderless world. “Learning about and understanding cultural diversity from a young age helps instill values of respect, acceptance, and quality global citizenship,” he stated. “Today’s activities will help students develop communication skills, creativity, and direct experiences that will be a crucial foundation for their future growth.”

Assistant Director for Administration and Personnel Development, Angkanawan Thamma, explained that the event was carefully planned to showcase the cultures of 14 different countries. Each classroom selected a country to study and present its unique traditions, food, and language through various learning exchanges. She noted the successful collaboration between staff and the strong support from parents, which ensured the event ran smoothly and provided maximum benefit to the children.

The event featured presentations on 14 countries, with each class focusing on a specific nation. The countries represented included Japan, Northern Iceland, China, France, the United States, Korea, Vietnam, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Australia, India, Italy, and Canada.

Students participated by dressing in traditional costumes, sampling food, and engaging in music and activities that creatively reflected the unique identity of each country. The hands-on approach provided a fun and memorable learning experience, introducing the young students to the concept of global citizenship.
