KKU Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Launches ‘Telehealth Thailand’ for Remote Health Consultation and Free Home Medication Delivery

The Community Pharmacy Practice Facility of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khon Kaen University (KKU Pharmacy Shop), has officially launched the “Telehealth Thailand” platform, a comprehensive online healthcare service designed to connect patients with expert pharmacists anytime, anywhere. This service includes free home delivery of prescriptions.

This project stems from a vision to utilise digital technology as a bridge to healthcare access, overcoming limitations related to distance, time, and waiting lines. Users can begin using the Telehealth Thailand platform by downloading the application via Google Play or the App Store. Users may register using three methods: their national identification card, passport, or via Kiosks available at various service points.

The identity verification process places a strong emphasis on security and involves seven steps: initiation of identity verification, card scanning, facial recognition scanning, data review and confirmation, password creation, successful registration, and verification of rights and health benefit connection. The platform also integrates the Pao Tang application system for convenient and secure payments.

To access the online health consultation service, users open the app and select the “Immediate Consultation” button on the home screen. They then choose the personnel they wish to consult, select the applicable health benefits, choose the symptom from the provided list, select the personnel from the “KKU Community Pharmacy Practice Facility,” and finally, choose either “Consult Immediately” or “Schedule an Appointment.” The system will then connect the user directly with a pharmacist for the online consultation.

There are two methods for logging into the consultation system: entering the national identification number or logging in via the Pao Tang application. The system will request location access to ensure accurate service provision, which allows users to conveniently select their current address for medication delivery. The platform’s service coverage is broad, addressing various health concerns, including basic healthcare, medication guidance, general health problems, and inquiries about illnesses. Expert pharmacists are available to provide consultation 24 hours a day, ensuring rapid accessibility regardless of the patient’s location.

A key feature of this service is the provision of complimentary home medication delivery. Users can choose either delivery via third-party providers integrated into the app, such as Grab or Lineman, for fast delivery, or utilise the dedicated pharmacy delivery service, both of which are offered at no cost for shipping. Medications are scheduled for dispatch at 11:00 hrs and 13:00 hrs daily.
