On 25 November 2025, the Korean Language major, under the Department of Oriental Languages, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), Khon Kaen University (KKU), collaborated with the Korean Education Center in Thailand to organise a study abroad guidance programme focusing on the Republic of Korea. This event aimed to promote international education planning and provide in-depth information about the Korean education system to students and interested attendees. The activity drew over 250 participants to Meeting Room 3218, HS.03 Building, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University.
Associate Professor Orathai Piayura, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, presided over the opening ceremony. She was joined by Assistant Professor Prapas Kaewketphong, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Administration; Assistant Professor Marsri Sorthip, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Student Development and Corporate Communications; Assistant Professor Dararat Khampaosen, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for International Affairs; and Dr. Sukateisak Wanwaja, Chair of the Korean Language Major Executive Committee. Faculty members from the Korean Language major and the Department of Oriental Languages were also present to welcome representatives from leading South Korean educational institutions.



The event featured detailed presentations from Kyungdong University, Kwangwoon University, Gimcheon University, Jeonju University, and the Korean Education Center in Thailand. The content covered the Korean education system, application procedures, scholarship opportunities, types of academic programmes, and essential preparedness advice for prospective students. A session was also dedicated to assessing attendees’ interests and aptitudes to assist them in charting suitable educational pathways.



Following the informational sessions, representatives from the Korean universities held a consultative meeting with faculty members of the Korean Language major to foster academic collaboration across various domains. Discussions focused on potential Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), short- and long-term student exchange programmes, obtaining scholarship support from partner universities, faculty and researcher exchanges, and co-developing curricula aligned with future career trends. This partnership marks a significant stride in promoting international educational opportunities and elevating the quality of Korean language instruction at Khon Kaen University to a global standard.



Furthermore, booths from various South Korean educational institutions were available, enabling students to engage directly and seek detailed information. This interaction helped cultivate accurate understanding and boosted aspirations for studying abroad. The success of the activities reflects the consistent commitment of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, and its partners from the Republic of Korea, to empower learners with the requisite knowledge, skills, and strategic vision needed to confidently step onto the global stage.
