On 15 November 2025, the Regional Science Park Northeast 2 hosted the 13th Research to Market (R2M#13) Regional Round competition.
The opening ceremony was honoured by the presence of Assistant Professor Paphakorn Pittayachaval, Ph.D., Director of the Regional Science Park Northeast 2, who delivered the opening remarks. The Khon Kaen University Science Park team, led by its Director, Dr. Apirachai Wongsriworaphon, along with staff, management, researchers, academics, and students, participated in the event. Attendees represented the four universities comprising the Northeast Science Park network: Mahasarakham University (MSU), Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), and Khon Kaen University (KKU). The competition took place in Hall 1 (A305) on the 3rd floor of the Regional Science Park Northeast 2 Administration Building.
The judging panel for the competition comprised distinguished experts:
- Dr. Thinakorn Rosruen, Senior Policy and Plan Analyst, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI).
- Dr. Benjawan, representing Innospace (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
- Khun Thanachai Kulsomboonsin, Co-founder of Canvas Ventures International.
- Khun Patchakorn Thainiyom, Assistant General Manager, CP All Public Company Limited.
- Khun Nattakorn Yaowsriwan, Vice Secretary-General of the Mahasarakham Provincial Industry Office.
The results of the 13th Research to Market (R2M#13) Regional Round competition were as follows:
🥇 Winner: Team Ecosphere from Suranaree University of Technology (SUT).
- Prize: 20,000 Baht and a plaque.
- Research Topic: Gelatin Film.
🥈 First Runner-up: Team “Por Krub Pom Yak Pen Miss Grand” from Khon Kaen University (KKU).
- Prize: 15,000 Baht and a plaque.
- Research Project: Kosakonia radicincitans Biofertiliser (BG Power).
- Researcher: Assistant Professor Suwanna Neimsanit, Ph.D., Faculty of Science, KKU.
- The student team comprised four members from the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy: 1) Ms. Jetasirin Kaewkam, 2) Ms. Lorra Khutney, 3) Mr. Thepparat Singsutham, and 4) Mr. Pisitthapong Narongchai.
🥉 Second Runner-up: Team “Songkhram Song Duan” from Khon Kaen University (KKU).
- Prize: 10,000 Baht and a plaque.
- Research Project: Liquid Toothpaste.
- Researchers: Professor Suwimol Taweechaisupapong, Ph.D., and Professor Watcharee Khunkitti, Ph.D., of the Faculty of Dentistry and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, KKU, respectively.
- The student team comprised five members from the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy: 1) Mr. Chokchai Chanapan, 2) Mr. Panupat Pookangam, 3) Mr. Denis Kaiser, 4) Ms. Thitaree Pattanachatchai, and 5) Mr. Cholkorn Ruangwachirapanya.
Commendation Awards (3 Prizes): Each team received 5,000 Baht and a plaque.

- Research Topic: Foot Shape and Plantar Pressure Analysis System using Image Processing Technology for Foot Classification and Personalised Insole Design.

Team Lilush from Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU).
- Research Topic: Extraction of Active Compounds from Andrographis paniculata (Fah Talai Jone) and Turmeric using Hydrodynamic Cavitation from a Dimpled Spinning Rotor.

Team IDAM Brick from Mahasarakham University (MSU).
- Research Topic: Properties of Wall Construction Material Made from Biomass Ash.
The award-winning student teams will represent the Northeastern Region in the national round of the competition, scheduled to be held at the Prince of Songkla University Science Park in February 2026.
