KKU Mathematics Students Organise Second Gen Math Camp to Broaden Secondary School Students’ Mathematical Horizons

7 November 2025 – Undergraduate students from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University (KKU), successfully organised the “2nd MINI GEN MATH Camp” (Gen Math Camp II), with support from the Student Development Unit. The activity aimed to introduce secondary school students to the fun and fascinating aspects of mathematics.

The camp was attended by 113 students from Triam Udom Suksa Pattanakarn Khonkaen School in Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province. Fifty-one KKU mathematics students volunteered to run the activities, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Panuwat Luangchaishri, Ph.D., and Mr. Naparat Sripaisal, Ph.D., as camp advisors.

The programme featured various sessions designed to enhance understanding of fundamental mathematical topics, including ratio and percentage, basic probabilityThe server is busy. Please try again later or select another AI Model.

The organisation of this camp successfully served as a bridge connecting secondary-level mathematical knowledge with university-level study. It allowed the students to perceive the beauty and intrinsic interest of mathematics from a new perspective through activities that blended learning and entertainment. Crucially, the camp focused on essential foundational topics such as ratio and percentage, probability, indices, and geometry, which are the fundamental building blocks for further advanced study in mathematics.

The student organisers demonstrated a strong mentorship ethos, dedicated to sharing their knowledge and experience with their younger peers. This effort aligns directly with the university’s objective of producing high-quality graduates conscious of their responsibility to contribute to society.

The success of this event resulted from the excellent cooperation shown by the participating students and the dedication of the KKU undergraduates in creating a valuable activity. The camp effectively disseminated mathematical knowledge and fostered a strong learning network between educational institutions, providing inspiration for the continued organisation of future Gen Math camps.
