The Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University (KKU), extends its sincere congratulations to two fourth-year students from the Statistics Programme (SIDS track), Miss Phannaromon Ratchakhom and Miss Siriyatporn Rodchan. The students brought honour to the Faculty and the University by securing the Silver Medal in the Computer Science domain at the Young Rising Stars of Science Award 2025 (YRSS). This competition was held during the 51st International Congress on Science, Technology and Technology-based Innovation (STT51), which took place from 11–13 November 2025 at the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University.

The students were recognised for their research project entitled “A Conversational AI Platform for Educating and Supporting Behavioural Change in Pregnant Women Diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus.” This project was conducted collaboratively with Khon Kaen Hospital, with Dr. Monsicha Mekcharasnpab and Associate Professor Thanapong Intaradet, Ph.D., serving as project advisors.
This innovation applies Artificial Intelligence technology in a conversational format to provide knowledge and health recommendations to pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes, a significant public health issue that requires close and continuous care. The development of this AI system, capable of offering appropriate advice and supporting behavioural change, has the potential to reduce risks and promote better health outcomes for both mother and child.
This achievement reflects the potential of the Faculty of Science students to create innovations that address societal needs by integrating statistical knowledge with Artificial Intelligence technology to solve pressing health problems. This aligns with the University’s commitment to generating high-quality knowledge and innovation for national development and meeting the demands of the community and society.
