The Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University (KKU), has officially inaugurated the first Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) in Northeast Thailand, established in collaboration with Cybertron Co., Ltd. The centre aims to strengthen information security infrastructure while equipping students with advanced practical skills in cyber defence.
The opening ceremony took place on 5 November 2025, led by Associate Professor Ratchaphon Suntivarakorn, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, along with executives, lecturers, and students. The event was honoured by Mr. Prinya Hom-anek, Thailand’s leading cyber security expert, who presided over the centre’s inauguration and delivered a special lecture.
The Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) was established under a cooperation agreement between the Khon Kaen University Faculty of Engineering and Cybertron Co., Ltd. Its primary purpose is to serve as a practical learning and training resource in cyber security. It aims specifically to develop the technical skills of university students and concurrently offer relevant non-degree programmes for interested personnel and the general public.
Beyond its educational role, the CSOC will also serve as a strategic unit supporting the Faculty’s internal information management systems, reinforcing security and efficiency amid growing digital risks.
Assoc. Prof. Ratchaphon Suntivarakorn, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, stated that this collaboration marks another significant step for the Faculty in elevating the quality and robustness of its teaching, research, and academic services in cyber security. The Dean expressed confidence that the centre is ready to serve as a regional model for developing advanced data security skills in the future.
