KKU Welcomes MSU Delegation to Exchange Best Practices in Human Resource Management to Drive Organisational Excellence

Khon Kaen University (KKU) recently played host to a delegation from Mahasarakham University (MSU) for a study visit aimed at exchanging knowledge and distilling best practices in human resource management (HRM).

On 30 October 2025, Associate Professor Pattarawit Polpinit, Ph.D., Vice President for Human Resources, Khon Kaen University, welcomed the visiting delegation from Mahasarakham University. The delegation was led by Assistant Professor Jindaporn Jamraslerdlak, Vice President for Personnel Development and Operation System. The visit provided a platform for both universities to exchange lessons and successful organisational practices in human resource management.

The event took place at the Sarasind Room, Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University, and was attended by administrators, directors, heads of working groups, and personnel from both institutions.

Associate Professor Pattarawit Polpinit, Ph.D., stated that Khon Kaen University is driven by the vision of becoming a leading global research and development university. Currently, in the second term of the President’s administration, the management focuses on continuous organisational modification through a comprehensive transformation process. This encompasses all dimensions including education management, research, and human resource management.

“This year, we set the theme for the University as ‘Future Ready KKU,’ emphasising the use of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), to enhance efficiency and drive all four missions: teaching and learning, research, academic services, and arts and culture,” said Associate Professor Polpinit. “Simultaneously, we use the SMART values as a core principle for institutional operation, alongside developing a transparent and efficient management system through the use of OKRs and various digital tools.”

Associate Professor Polpinit added that KKU’s core HR strategy is structured around four pillars: establishing a Talent Management System; cultivating an organisational culture focused on success; building employee engagement and enhancing personnel capability; and developing a flexible and agile HR system.

“Our successes are reflected in various accolades, such as the TQC Plus Societal Contribution Award. This award demonstrates excellence in organisational management focused on value creation and sustainable community development, making us the first university in the country to receive it,” he explained. “Furthermore, the Faculty of Dentistry received the TQC Plus People Award, and the Faculty of Engineering received the TQC Plus Operation Award, which further attests to the efficiency of our management systems.”

Assistant Professor Jindaporn Jamraslerdlak, Vice President for Personnel Development and Operation System, Mahasarakham University, explained that the study visit had three main objectives: mutual knowledge exchange; gaining inspiration and awareness for work development; and establishing a professional network between the two institutions.

“Khon Kaen University serves as an excellent model and a benchmark for many institutions in the Northeast region, both in terms of quality assurance and operational excellence,” Assistant Professor Jamraslerdlak remarked. “This visit is therefore a significant opportunity for us to learn best practices that can be applied to develop Mahasarakham University to be more efficient, transparent, and sustainable.”

The Vice President from MSU further stated that Mahasarakham University is committed to utilising the knowledge and experience gained during the visit to positively impact their organisation, which will have a broad effect on their large student body and the community.

“We hope that in the future, we can build a strong relationship and continuously exchange knowledge to jointly advance Thai education. We sincerely thank Khon Kaen University for the warm welcome and for generously sharing their valuable experience,” she concluded.

The study visit was divided into two sessions. The morning session focused on knowledge exchange regarding policy implementation, strategic human resource development planning, talent management, performance evaluation/IDP, and the administration of the President’s Office. The afternoon session involved exchanging experiences in Human Resource Management (HRM), covering the structure, mission, key performance indicators, and practices of the Human Resource Division, as well as Human Resource Development (HRD), including the processes for academic appointments and the progression of support staff positions.
