Faculty of Education, KKU Selected for the “Kru Rak Thin” Program 2026: Developing Quality Teachers for Local Communities and Reducing Educational Inequality

On 22 October 2025, the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) officially announced the list of educational institutions selected to participate in the “Kru Rak Thin” Program for the 2026 Academic Year. The Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, has been chosen to join the program under the Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood and Primary Education (Dual Major) program — marking another significant step in producing and nurturing quality teachers dedicated to community development.

The selection follows the Faculty’s presentation to the EEF committee, held between 5–6 October 2025, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Itsara Kanjak, Dean of the Faculty of Education, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jarunee Samart, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Sumalee Chaijaroen, Advisor to the Dean and Chair of the Bachelor of Education Curriculum Committee in Early Childhood and Primary Education. The team proposed an integrated framework to nurture high-quality teachers who will return to serve and strengthen schools in rural and underprivileged areas.

The “Kru Rak Thin” Program aims to identify and support students from underprivileged backgrounds to pursue teacher education at leading teacher-training institutions. The program is designed to cultivate professional competence, ethics, and a strong teaching ideology among student teachers — empowering them to return to their hometowns and contribute to improving local education. This initiative plays a crucial role in reducing educational inequality and creating a new generation of teachers who serve as driving forces in enhancing quality of life and sustainable community development.

This achievement aligns with the Faculty of Education’s vision and mission to produce graduates equipped with essential skills that add value to society, particularly in advancing education across all age groups. Moreover, participation in the “Kru Rak Thin” Program reinforces the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all — paving the way toward a learning society that grows alongside the sustainable future of the nation.
