Medical students from Khon Kaen University once again brought pride to the university on the international stage after winning three awards at The 8th Intervarsity Parasitology Quiz & Oratorical Competition – 2025, hosted by the University of Malaya, Malaysia, on October 18, 2025.

The competition aimed to enhance students’ academic knowledge in medical parasitology while developing communication and analytical thinking skills. It featured two categories — Oral Quiz Competition and Oratorical Competition — and attracted participants from leading universities across Southeast Asia.

Khon Kaen University students achieved outstanding results in both categories. In the Oral Quiz Competition, Team KKU-1 — comprising Mr. Tontarm Wiangklangsap, Year 3; Mr. Jetsadakorn Kongsaimoon, Year 2; and Mr. Teer Mathong, Year 1 — won the First Prize, while Team KKU-2, including Ms. Pawanpat Chinchaiyaphong, Year 3; Ms. Chidchanok Chairob, Year 3; and Mr. Julasak Dadoung, Year 1, earned the Second Prize.

In the Oratorical Competition, Ms. Phakhwan Homwuttiwong, Year 2, received the Second Prize for her speech on the topic “Parasites as Partners: Rethinking the Host-Parasite Dynamics”, which showcased creative perspectives and in-depth academic insights.

The Intervarsity Parasitology Quiz & Oratorical Competition has been a flagship international activity for the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. This year marked the fifth consecutive participation of KKU medical students, who have consistently demonstrated academic excellence and teamwork on the global stage.

This achievement highlights the capability and potential of KKU medical students to apply their academic knowledge beyond the classroom and excel on the global stage. It also reinforces the Faculty’s commitment to promoting integrative learning and cultivating medical professionals equipped to contribute to society with excellence and integrity.
