A high-level delegation comprising executives from the Faculty of Engineering and members of the University Council at Khon Kaen University (KKU) traveled to Japan to visit the University of Osaka and discuss future academic collaboration.
The visit, which took place on October 2, 2025, focused on establishing a joint academic program in Chemical Engineering and strengthening research cooperation between the KKU Faculty of Engineering and the Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Osaka.
The KKU representatives were warmly received by Professor Hiroshi Uyama and his research team at the Uyama Laboratory, which is part of the Department of Polymer Materials Chemistry.
The delegation included several key figures from Khon Kaen University, such as University Council members Associate Professor Weerapong Pairsuwan, Dr. Twarath Sutabutr, Mr. Pramode Vidtayasuk, and Mr. Sukit Sirinorrakul, alongside Dr. Sutapa Amornvivat, a member of the university’s Risk Management Committee. Leading the Faculty of Engineering executives were Associate Professor Ratchaphon Suntivarakorn, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Associate Professor Panitas Sureeyatanapas, Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies and International Relations.
The Uyama Laboratory is recognized as a world-leading research center in polymer science, specializing in developing innovative polymer materials for societal sustainability. Its research integrates green technology, biology, and nanotechnology. A core focus of the laboratory’s work is the creation of bioplastics derived from natural biomass, aimed at promoting environmental conservation and resource cycling. Furthermore, the lab’s research has potential applications in advanced fields such as Regenerative Medicine and Renewable Energy.
This international engagement marks a significant step in the Faculty of Engineering’s drive toward achieving its strategic goal of becoming a “World Class Engineering School for All.”
