BANGKOK – Khon Kaen University’s Division of Student Development and Alumni Relations has received a national award for its innovative AI-driven student support system, the “KKU Smart Service Hub.” The project was recognized as one of the top ten outstanding innovations for student development by Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI).
The award was presented during the 2025 National Academic Seminar on Student Development, held from September 29-30 at the Centara Life Hotel in Bangkok. The seminar, themed “Student Development in the AI Era: Future Challenges,” showcased advancements in university student services and highlighted innovative approaches to enhancing the student experience.
The winning innovation, titled “KKU Smart Service Hub: From Chatbot to Actionable Student Services,” was developed by Mr. Preedee Sritrakul, a public relations specialist at the university. The system was presented at the event by Mrs. Jessadaporn Srirattanaprapan, the acting director of the division.
The project was initiated under a university policy encouraging staff to integrate digital tools and artificial intelligence to enhance operational efficiency and streamline complex student service requests that traditional chatbots cannot manage.
The KKU Smart Service Hub evolves beyond a simple question-and-answer chatbot into a proactive service platform. It is designed to track issues, categorize problems using a tagging system, and trigger actions to ensure swift and comprehensive resolution. This allows for a traceable, end-to-end support process for students.
University officials stated that the achievement reflects Khon Kaen University’s vision of being an innovation-driven organization. The successful implementation of this technology aims to create a smart and sustainable student service ecosystem that effectively meets the needs of students in the digital age.
