Spectacular! “Med Saad See 2025” Showcases First-Year Medical Students’ Talents in Arts, Music, and Creative Performances under the Theme “Fog & Fear”

On Saturday, October 4, 2025, the Academic Affairs Division, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, held the opening ceremony of the “Med Saad See Project for Academic Year 2025.” The event was presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Anucha Somabut, Assistant to the President for Education, together with Prof. Dr. Leelawadee Techasatian, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Medicine, KKU. The ceremony was attended by faculty executives, lecturers, first-year medical students, and over 300 parents at the Modindang Conference Hall and Mittraphap Room, 3rd floor, Integrated Learning Building, Faculty of Medicine.

Mr. Sawanat Wiangdindam, a first-year medical student and president of the 15th Med Saad See Project, reported that the event was organized as part of the GE161892 Art & Creative Apprentices course. The objectives were to develop students’ practical skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities, while also providing a platform to showcase their artistic works, designs, stage plays, music, and short films. The project aimed to allow the general public and faculty members to appreciate the creativity and potential of medical students, while also fostering unity, teamwork, and strong relationships among students, lecturers, staff, and the community.

Prof. Dr. Leelawadee Techasatian, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and chair of the ceremony, stated that the Med Saad See Project is a long-standing creative initiative organized annually by first-year medical students. This year marked its 15th edition under the theme “Fog & Fear.” The event featured a diverse lineup, including Thai and Western music performances, short films, stage plays, and an exhibition of medical illustrations that highlighted students’ creativity and artistic skills.

“I truly commend the dedication of all first-year medical students who made this event possible. Beyond showcasing creativity, the project also provides opportunities to practice teamwork, problem-solving, and collaboration—essential skills that will serve them well in their future medical careers,” Prof. Dr. Leelawadee said.

The event began with traditional Thai music performances, followed by piano recitals. The entertainment continued with screenings of short films Running Blind and Don’t Play With Me, Son, before reaching the highlight performance—the stage play The Red Camellia, which captivated the audience with an atmosphere of thrilling suspense.

As the lights dimmed to mark the end of the play, the evening concluded with joyful performances, including cover dances and a live concert by first-year medical students. The event provided an impressive platform for students to express their creativity and talents, leaving the audience with lasting memories.

Parents also shared their appreciation. Mrs. Jittrapa Petwanit, mother of Mr. Pentai Khayankit, a first-year medical student, expressed her delight at attending the event: “When I learned about this project, I immediately traveled to Khon Kaen to support my son. Even though he worked behind the scenes, I could see the dedication and collaboration among all the students. At first, I was worried because he is living here alone while our family is in Bangkok. But after seeing this, I feel relieved and proud. The Faculty provides a space for students to engage in diverse activities, not focusing solely on academics but also allowing them to relax, build teamwork, and support one another. It’s truly a wonderful activity. Now I understand why my son wanted to study at Khon Kaen University so much—after today, I feel the same way.”
