Bangkok, Thailand – Khon Kaen University (KKU) actively participated in the 2025 National Academic Seminar on Student Development, focusing on the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on higher education. The seminar, titled “Student Development in the AI Era: The Future Challenges,” was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and held at the Centara Life Government Complex and Convention Center in Bangkok on September 29, 2025.
The KKU delegation was led by Associate Professor Dr. Pensri Charoenwanit, Vice President for Student Affairs and Innovative Entrepreneurship, alongside Associate Professor Dr. Prapansak Chaveerach, Assistant President for Student Affairs and Innovative Entrepreneurship, and Ms. Jetsadaporn Srirattanaprapan, Acting Director of the Division of Student Development and Alumni Relations, accompanied by staff from the division. Their participation aimed to exchange knowledge and define strategies for student development to keep pace with the digital world and address the challenges posed by AI technology.
Ms. Waraporn Rungtrakarn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MHESI, presided over the opening ceremony. She highlighted that AI technology is not only reshaping learning and work paradigms but also presenting universities with ethical and equity challenges. This aligns with MHESI’s “MHESI for AI” policy, which emphasizes leveraging AI to elevate education, develop human resources, and foster innovation for sustainable national growth. The seminar served as a central platform for higher education administrators, personnel, and student leaders to brainstorm and share experiences, preparing Thai graduates for the future.
Associate Professor Dr. Pensri Charoenwanit of Khon Kaen University noted that participating in the seminar facilitated the creation of collaborative networks and knowledge exchange. This will be instrumental in developing policies and activities for KKU students, aiming to produce graduates equipped with future-ready skills and the ability to adapt effectively in an AI-driven world.
The two-day seminar, held from September 29-30, 2025, featured a variety of engaging activities, including special lectures by experts, panel discussions, and presentations of innovative projects for student development. During the event, Khon Kaen University’s Division of Student Development and Alumni Relations earned recognition as one of the top 10 outstanding innovative projects for student development. Their project, “KKU Smart Service Hub: From Chatbot to Actionable Student Services,” underscores the university’s commitment to applying technology to tangibly enhance student services.
