Khon Kaen, Thailand – September 28, 2068 – The Faculty of Education and the Demonstration School of Khon Kaen University (KKU) held a ceremonial blessing and foundation stone laying for its new “Central Kitchen and Culinary Science Laboratory Building.” The event, aimed at ensuring prosperity for the project, took place at the construction site of the new educational support and learning quality facility.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, presided over the ceremony. The morning began with a Buddhist ritual led by Luang Pu Yuwin Puripanyo, abbot of Wat Pa Sawangporn in Khon Kaen, who chanted blessings. Following this, Brahmin Sunai Phokkharat conducted a ceremony to invoke blessings from deities and sacred spirits. The university president then placed auspicious silver, gold, and nak (a gold-copper alloy) plates onto the construction area.
The ceremony was attended by a host of executives and distinguished guests, including Assoc. Prof. Issara Kanjak, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education, along with administrators from the Faculty of Education, the Khon Kaen University Demonstration School, and various other university departments.
This new educational support and learning quality building project has several key objectives, focusing on enhancing student well-being and establishing a modern learning hub:
- High-Quality Lunch Production: The facility is designed to produce nutritionally balanced meals for 3,000-4,000 students of the Khon Kaen University Demonstration School per meal.
- Comprehensive Food Services: It will offer food sales within Khon Kaen University, including dine-in and take-home options for parents and staff.
- Production Expansion: The project aims to expand its capabilities to include the production of frozen foods.
- Learning Center: The building will house a “Cooking Studio,” a state-of-the-art laboratory for students pursuing Culinary Science and Technology, providing practical training. It will also serve as a vocational training center for culinary skills for students at the Demonstration School.
- Communal Space: A cafeteria area will be provided for food and beverage services, as well as a relaxation space.
The construction project is an integral part of the Khon Kaen University Demonstration School’s development plan, striving to become an institution fully equipped in all dimensions, including academics, student welfare, and the cultivation of high-quality personnel for the future.
