Chiang Mai, Thailand – Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Law recently participated in the 10th VIPP Conference, an international academic forum held at Chiang Mai University, to exchange knowledge on intellectual property (IP) and sustainable development. The faculty presented its innovative “RestauLaw Project,” featuring the “Go Green with IP” model, to a gathering of IP scholars and experts from around the world.
Assistant Professor Teanrat Kunngern Head of Institute of Economic and International trade Law at Khon Kaen University’s , represented the institution at the conference on September 11, 2025.
The RestauLaw Project, a legal and sustainability service initiative by Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Law, was selected as a key case study for the international conference under the theme “Sustainability and IP: RestauLaw + Cafe Go Green with IP Model.” RestauLaw is a pioneering project that integrates intellectual property law with sustainability principles, driven by the concept of “Social Justice Leads to Social Enterprise.”
The project operates by fostering learning processes and supporting “Creative Law for Entrepreneur” initiatives in various provinces, including Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, and Bangkok. Its innovative approach has also gained international recognition, with its concepts and model being showcased at Taiwan Design Week by the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI).
Assistant Professor Tanarat stated that RestauLaw aims to further expand its operations under the “Social Justice Leads to Social Enterprise” framework. This involves creating a platform for entrepreneurs to share knowledge, promoting business sustainability through the practical application of legal expertise. The presentation at the VIPP Conference is expected to initiate broader international cooperation in developing sustainable innovations through intellectual property mechanisms.
