KHON KAEN – The Khon Kaen University Council has approved a budget of 21.48 billion baht for the 2026 fiscal year and a significant pay increase for over 2,000 university employees. The decisions were finalized during the council’s ninth meeting of the year on September 3, 2025.

University President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D. announced that the approved budget of 21,485.59 million baht represents a 4.99% increase, or 1,022.04 million baht, over the previous year’s budget of 20,463.55 million baht. He noted that this is the second consecutive year the university’s budget has exceeded 20 billion baht, reflecting its continued growth in graduate education, research, and academic services. The new budget will take effect on October 1, 2025.

In a separate resolution, the council also approved a 20% compensation increase for more than 2,000 contract employees. This adjustment, which will cost an estimated 58.7 million baht, will also become effective on October 1, 2025.
A review regarding compensation for other university staff is still underway and is expected to be completed within the next three months. Any resulting pay adjustments for this group will be made retroactive to October 1, 2025.
