Khon Kaen University Museum Center Holds Fire Safety Workshop for Staff

KHON KAEN – Khon Kaen University’s Museum and Lifelong Learning Center hosted a comprehensive workshop on “Fire Prevention and Suppression” for its personnel on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the university’s Science Museum. The training aimed to equip staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle fire emergencies, thereby enhancing safety for both employees and visitors.

The event was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Thidarat Boonmars, Vice President for Enterprise and Sustainable Society at Khon Kaen University. In her opening remarks, she stressed the critical importance of disaster risk preparedness, especially for a public-facing institution like the museum center, which serves as a vital learning resource for the community.

The workshop, attended by 44 staff members, was conducted by a team of expert instructors from the university’s Physical and Environmental Division. The sessions were led by Mr. Morakot Subin, Director of the Security and Safety Division, with support from the Buildings and Grounds Division, the Utilities and Environment Division, and the KKU Safety Training team.

The training program combined theoretical instruction with hands-on practical exercises. Key topics included disaster risk management and business continuity planning for high-rise buildings, building safety standards, workplace environment management, and incident command protocols for severe emergencies. The practical session, led by the KKU Safety Training team, focused on fundamental fire prevention and suppression techniques.

Organizers stated that the initiative reflects the Museum and Lifelong Learning Center’s commitment to creating a safe and standardized environment. The project also aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including promoting staff health and safety (SDG 3), fostering continuous skills development (SDG 4), and enhancing the safety of public buildings and spaces (SDG 11).
