The Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University (KKU) was recognized for its contributions to youth science education at the opening ceremony of a national student conference on August 27, 2025.
Dean Asst. Prof. Dr. Angkana Boonyued and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pimwadee Pornpongrungrueng attended the opening of the 5th National Science, Mathematics, and Technology Academic Conference for students in the Development and Promotion of Science and Technology Talents (DPST) classroom project. The ceremony, held at the Charoen Thani Hotel, was presided over by Khon Kaen Vice Governor Prajuab Rakpaet.
The three-day conference, hosted at Kaennakhon Wittayalai School from August 27-29, brought together over 300 students from DPST centers across the country. The event features student project presentations in both poster and oral formats, inspirational lectures by DPST alumni who are now scientists and researchers, networking activities, and educational field trips to local sites, including the KKU Science Museum.
During the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teeradej Chiasakul, Director of the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), presented an honorary shield to Dean Angkana Boonyued and Associate Dean Pimwadee Pornpongrungrueng. The award recognized the university and the Faculty of Science for their significant support in helping the DPST program achieve its goals.
The faculty’s involvement underscores its commitment to fostering the next generation of high-quality science professionals for the nation, aligning with its mission to produce skilled graduates and collaborate with partner organizations to elevate Thailand’s science education to international standards.
