KKU Welcomes Naresuan University for PDPA Study Visit

Khon Kaen University (KKU) welcomed a delegation from Naresuan University for a study visit on “Learning and Development of Data Protection Practices” during 8–9 July 2025. The visit was organized to strengthen skills in personal data protection (PDPA) among university personnel.

On 8 July 2025 at 09.00 hrs., Mrs. Natsamol Tanakulrungsarit, Vice President for Legal and Communications, together with Mrs. Laongdao Somdeeweeradet, Acting Director of the Legal Affairs Division, and KKU staff, formally received the visiting team led by Ms. Laddawan Chusai, Director of the Legal Affairs Division, Naresuan University, at the Sarasas Meeting Room, Office of the President, Khon Kaen University.

In her welcome address, Mrs. Natsamol emphasized that the two universities have long maintained academic and legal exchanges, particularly in the field of personal data protection, which has gained increasing importance since the enforcement of the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019) on 1 June 2022. She explained that KKU has implemented a Privacy Protection Policy and related regulations, including the Khon Kaen University Regulation on Personal Data Protection B.E. 2565 (2022) and Announcement No. 1431/2022 on Privacy Protection Policy, to ensure that both staff and students are fully informed of their rights and obligations. She expressed confidence that this visit would provide Naresuan University’s delegation with valuable knowledge from KKU’s practices, enabling them to apply such insights effectively within their own institutional framework.

Ms. Laddawan Chusai, Director of the Legal Affairs Division at Naresuan University, expressed appreciation for KKU’s warm welcome. She remarked that Naresuan University is committed to ensuring its operations comply with the PDPA, and regarded KKU as a leading institution with a dedicated Legal Affairs Division that has demonstrated strong capabilities in this area. She added that the purpose of the visit was to provide NU staff with greater knowledge, understanding, and practical skills in personal data protection so that the university can operate in accordance with the law and improve efficiency.

The two-day program featured knowledge exchange sessions on personal data protection led by Dr. Kitt Tientanopajai, Assistant to the President for Digital Affairs, along with the Legal Affairs Division of KKU. The delegation also observed data storage systems at the Faculty of Medicine and engaged in further discussions on operational practices for data protection. The study visit reflected the strong collaboration between Thai higher education institutions in advancing personal data protection systems that comply with the PDPA and align with professional best practices.
