KKU Showcases Social and Community Sustainability Initiatives at the “1st Khon Kaen CSR Assembly”

On August 14, 2025, Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Prof. Dr. Thidarat Boonmars, Vice President for Enterprise and Social Sustainability, together with faculty members and staff, participated in the opening ceremony of the “1st Khon Kaen CSR Assembly.” The event was presided over by Mr. Prachuap Rakpaet, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen Province, with opening remarks delivered by Ms. Chatporn Ngamkliang, Director of the Khon Kaen Provincial Office of Social Development and Human Security, and a keynote address titled “The Power of CSR to Revitalize Society Towards Tangible Sustainability” delivered by Mr. Chokchai Kunwasi, Chair of the Khon Kaen CSR Steering Committee, at Khon Kaen Hall, 5th Floor, Central Khon Kaen Shopping Center, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province.

As part of the event, Prof. Dr. Thidarat Boonmars also joined a panel discussion on “Strengthening Networks to Drive CSR in Khon Kaen Toward Sustainable Development.”

Khon Kaen University presented three highlight projects through its exhibition:

  1. Faculty of NursingNU More Care Project, providing mental health services and brain training to prevent dementia.

2.Faculty of TechnologyInclusive Coffee Business Model Development Project, empowering people with disabilities and local communities through a sustainable café business initiative in collaboration with the Khon Kaen School for the Deaf.

3.Khon Kaen University Demonstration School (Special Education Division) – showcased innovations in special education and offered counseling services.

 

The CSR Assembly served as an important platform for exchanging knowledge, ideas, and experiences among the business sector, government agencies, and civil society to advance sustainable community development. Activities included keynote speeches, panel discussions, recognition awards for outstanding CSR organizations, and various public services such as blood donation, free haircuts, traditional Thai massage, job placement services, and labor consultations. In addition, the event featured exhibitions and product markets showcasing goods produced by the elderly and people with disabilities.

The event reflected cross-sector collaboration in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and highlighted joint efforts to enhance the quality of life in Khon Kaen Province in a truly sustainable manner.
