Khon Kaen University brought together administrators, faculty members, staff, students, and Territorial Defense Students to plant trees as a tribute to His Majesty the King, while continuing His Majesty’s royal aspirations for the conservation of the environment and natural resources.
On 14 August 2025 at 9:00 a.m., the Division of Physical and Environmental Management, in collaboration with the Division of Utilities and Environment, organized a tree planting activity in celebration of the 73rd birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua (King Rama X), on 28 July 2025. The event took place on the grounds opposite the Khon Kaen University Cooperative, next to the Wor Inter Dormitory.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, presided over the opening ceremony. Assoc. Prof. Choopong Thongkamsamut, Ph.D., Vice President for Physical Ecosystem and Environment, delivered the report. The ceremony was attended by university executives, faculty, staff, students, and Territorial Defense Students.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charnchai remarked that the project was not only a tribute to His Majesty but also a continuation of His Majesty’s vision for the preservation of natural resources and the environment. “The trees we plant today will grow to provide shade, oxygen, and stand as a symbol of our collective unity. Together, we will care for these trees so they flourish, benefiting society and the nation for generations to come.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Choopong added that the activity was about more than restoring nature. “It is also about creating long-term sustainability for the environment. The trees we plant today will be a legacy for future generations, highlighting the importance of conserving natural resources. Beyond planting trees, this is about instilling pride in our institution, continuing His Majesty’s environmental aspirations, and reinforcing the University’s image as a hub for learning and excellence in environmental stewardship.”
A total of 500 trees were planted during the event, expanding the University’s green space, helping reduce carbon emissions, and supporting KKU’s goal of becoming a Green & Clean University.
