On Sunday, August 3, 2025, the Demonstration School of Khon Kaen University, Special Education Division, in collaboration with the Khon Kaen Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office, organized a workshop titled “Expanding Educational Innovation for Students with Special Needs – Phase II” at Rachaewadee Resort and Hotel, Khon Kaen. The program was supported by the Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities Fund under the Khon Kaen Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office.
The workshop aimed to scale up the implementation of educational innovations tailored for students with special needs, enhance the capacity of teachers and educational personnel in designing effective learning approaches, and provide a platform for exchanging experiences and best practices. It also sought to strengthen collaborative networks to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities in the Northeast, while fostering sustainable employment opportunities in the future.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Phanthep Saokosol, Vice Governor of Khon Kaen Province, who delivered the keynote remarks. Prof. Thidarut Boonmars, D.V.M., Ph.D., Vice President for Enterprise and Societal Sustainability at Khon Kaen University, welcomed participants, while Asst. Prof. Sarawut Jukpeng, Ph.D., Deputy Dean for the Demonstration School and Acting Director of the Demonstration School of KKU, presented the program report. The event also featured an address by Assoc. Prof. Issara Kanjak, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education, who outlined the vision for educational innovation at the Faculty of Education and the Demonstration School.
The training sessions combined academic lectures, practical workshops, and knowledge-sharing activities. Participants were introduced to innovative tools and learning management techniques designed specifically for students with special needs, ensuring practical application in their respective contexts. The workshop brought together over 100 participants, including teachers, parents, and caregivers of children with special needs. This initiative marks another significant step in Khon Kaen University’s ongoing efforts to promote educational equity and enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities in Thailand, aligning with the university’s mission of sustainable societal development.
