The program was held from July 21 to 25, 2025, at S.D. Avenue Hotel, Bangkok, aiming to equip participants from various sectors with knowledge, competencies, and practical skills to manage conflicts constructively and sustainably.
The program featured distinguished experts, led by Prof. Dr. Wanchai Wattanasap, Program Chair and specialist in negotiation and dispute mediation, joined by Mr. Pairoj Minden, Judge of the Supreme Administrative Court; Dr. Thapapak Buranasing, Director of the Dispute Resolution Promotion Division from the Conflict Management Promotion Division, on behalf of the Director-General of the Rights and Liberties Protection Department, Ministry of Justice; and a team of experienced mediators from the Ministry of Justice. These experts provided in-depth lectures and shared hands-on experience to enhance participants’ understanding of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Surapon Nesusin, Deputy Director for Academic Services, who welcomed participants. Over the five-day course, attendees engaged in both theoretical and practical learning through interactive activities. Key topics included the Mediation Act, principles of communication using psychology and body language, ethics and roles of mediators, and simulation-based practice of real-life scenarios covering civil, criminal, and public disputes. Additionally, the program featured an educational field visit to the Civil Court and Minburi Criminal Court, offering participants a deeper insight into alternative justice processes.
The success of this program reflects Khon Kaen University’s strong commitment to applying academic expertise for societal benefit. Graduates of the program will receive a certificate that can be used to register as certified mediators with the Rights and Liberties Protection Department, Ministry of Justice. This initiative aims to develop high-quality personnel who can help reduce court caseloads and foster social harmony through effective mediation.
