On July 25, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the first-floor lobby of Si Rikunakorn Building, Office of the President, Khon Kaen University, the university organized its 14th Mobile Blood Donation Project. The event was presided over by Mrs. Natsamol Tanakulrungsarit, Vice President for Legal and Communications, and jointly arranged by the Office of Legal and Communications, the Division of Corporate Communications, and the Blood Transfusion Center, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University.
The campaign attracted 213 participants, of whom 161 passed the medical screening and successfully donated blood, resulting in a total collection of 64,400 cc. Notably, the event drew special attention from members of the public, including 46 first-time donors, which represents an increase of more than fourfold compared to the previous drive. This rise is partly attributed to KKU’s active promotion through various social media channels and increased public awareness following recent border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia.
Mrs. Natsamol stated that the main objective of this blood donation program is to maintain sufficient reserves at Srinagarind Hospital for use in emergencies, particularly in response to the recent unrest along the border area. “This activity has received tremendous support from administrators, staff, faculty members, students, and the general public. Such cooperation reflects the spirit of unity and volunteerism among Thai people, standing together in difficult times. The donated blood will be stored for both routine use and emergency situations, which is crucial to ensure the hospital’s readiness to respond to any crisis. These blood drives are held every three months to ensure an adequate supply and timely assistance for patients. Besides being a charitable act, it also encourages donors to maintain good health in preparation for future donations, bringing both physical well-being and merit,” she explained.
Participants shared their thoughts on joining the initiative. Mr. Piyanat Kulchamorin, an electrical engineer from the Building and Facility Division, remarked, “This is my 18th time donating blood, and it feels great every time. It’s something we can give every three months. I encourage everyone to join in and help save lives.”
Similarly, Ms. Napatsorn Somparn, an internal auditor at the Internal Audit Division, said this was her fifth donation. “I started donating when I turned 18. Before, I didn’t meet the weight requirement, but now that I do, I plan to keep donating. Blood donation saves lives, and I encourage those who are healthy and meet the criteria to donate regularly,” she added.
The initiative also received strong support from the military. Sergeant Major Thawatchai Chairob from the 8th Infantry Regiment, Siharatdechochai Fort, led a team of 11 personnel to the event, eight of whom successfully donated blood. “Blood donation is a regular part of our unit’s mission to help the public and respond to requests for support. We have worked closely with Khon Kaen University on this initiative for a long time,” he said.
International participation was also evident. Mr. Saw Aung Thein Oo, a graduate of the Global Business Program at KKU International College and currently working at the Innovation Hub for Enterprise and Societal Sustainability, shared his experience: “This is my third time donating blood. I believe it’s important because it costs us nothing but can save lives. It feels like doing a good deed, and I encourage my friends to donate as well—it’s not just giving blood, it’s saving lives and giving peace of mind,” he said.
The next Office of the President Mobile Blood Donation Drive will be held in October 2025.
