On Thursday, July 24, 2025, Khon Kaen University hosted the 27th Higher Education Program Fair and KKU Open House 2025, held from July 24–25 at the Golden Jubilee Convention Center. The opening ceremony was presided over by Asst. Prof. Denpong Soodphakdee, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Digital, with university executives, faculty members, students, and more than 40,000 high school students and parents from across the Northeast joining the event from the early morning.

In his opening address, Asst. Prof. Denpong delivered a keynote on the topic “A Degree Is More Than Just Paper… It Can Change Your Life.” He emphasized the pivotal role of young people as a foundational resource for society and the nation and highlighted the transformations brought by the era of artificial intelligence, which have reshaped learning models worldwide. He reaffirmed Khon Kaen University’s readiness to serve as a space for knowledge enhancement, skill development, and opportunity creation for youth who are seeking pathways toward a secure and sustainable future.

“Each of you is a vital resource for building the foundation of society and the future of Thailand. We hope to welcome you back as members of the 63rd student cohort of Khon Kaen University. Follow your dreams, strive for success, and thank you to all higher education institutions participating in this fair, as every institution plays a crucial role in nurturing the country’s most valuable human capital,” he said.

The event also featured the official launch of E-Portfolio, a platform designed to help students compile their achievements and automatically create resumes. Asst. Prof. Anucha Somabut, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for Education, and Assoc. Prof. Wararat Songpan, Ph.D., Deputy Director for Information Technology and Digital Innovation, Bureau of Academic Administration and Development, introduced the system in a special session titled “A Must-Have for Your Portfolio! This System Lets Faculties See Your Best.”

Adding excitement to the program, students enjoyed a series of performances by the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts and the Khon Kaen University Student Organization, including a creative simulation of freshman welcoming activities, followed by a lively group dance to the popular Isan song “Thung Luilai.” The energy continued with the highlight talk session “From Ordinary Student to University Dreamer,” featuring Ms. Phanthita Boonchuan (known as ‘Pan Rak Maew’) and Ms. Pangwan Phonpirun, a current medical student at KKU, who shared practical tips on preparing for university admission and offered words of encouragement to prospective students.

Ms. Pangwan shared her feelings about participating in the event:“I’m so happy to be here today to inspire the next generation because when I was in their position, I wished someone would come and motivate me. I feel proud to play that role now.”

Similarly, Ms. Phanthita expressed her gratitude:“I’m truly delighted to inspire all of you, and I want to thank everyone here because you’ve inspired me as well. Thank you for coming!”

The venue was filled with high school students eager to explore their dream faculties. A group of Grade 10 students from Phu Khieo School and Kaeng Khro Wittaya School, Chaiyaphum Province, shared their excitement, saying:

“We’ve always wanted to study at KKU. When we saw on social media that there would be an Open House and program fair, we decided to come early. We weren’t disappointed! Meeting ‘Pan Rak Maew’ was great, and we learned how to prepare for admissions, from the first round to the final selection. There were also fun activities, giveaways, and photo opportunities all day. If KKU organizes this event again next year, we’ll definitely be here!”

The 27th Higher Education Program Fair and KKU Open House 2025 offers visitors the chance to join Q&A sessions, win prizes, and receive direct admission guidance from current students across 23 faculties and 59 educational institutions at the Golden Jubilee Convention Center. Visitors can also explore Open House activities hosted at KKU faculties for a firsthand experience of academic life. The event runs through July 24–25, 2025.
