KKU Students Launch “Kaen Jai” Brand to Empower Disabled Community in Sila Subdistrict under GSB Yuwaphat Rak Thin Project

Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with students from the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, has introduced the “Kaen Jai” brand to support the local group of people with disabilities in Sila Subdistrict. Through a series of creative workshops focused on embroidery and basic accounting, the initiative aims to enhance vocational skills and generate sustainable income for the community under the GSB Yuwaphat Rak Thin Project.

On May 27, 2025, the Academic Service Bureau of Khon Kaen University and the student team “Chi Serve Pha Khao Ma” organized hands-on training sessions at the Sila Municipality Office. The activities were designed to help participants develop distinctive handicrafts and strengthen their community enterprise.

The workshop featured two key components. First, Associate Professor Dr. Duangchan Nachaisinchai from the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts led an in-depth embroidery session. Participants learned various stitching techniques, from basic to advanced, and how to incorporate them into products to create a unique identity. She also guided them in designing modern packaging to increase the appeal and market value of their handcrafted items.

Second, the team introduced a simplified financial literacy module using GSB’s income-expense record book tailored for small-scale entrepreneurs. This practical tool enables participants to manage their finances effectively, monitor performance, and build financial discipline. The student team played an active role as facilitators, sharing knowledge and fostering a warm and inclusive learning environment.

The GSB Yuwaphat Rak Thin Project aims for this workshop to enhance the capabilities of the disabled community in Sila Subdistrict. By developing high-value, branded products under “Kaen Jai” and building stronger business management skills, the initiative hopes to promote long-term income generation while preserving and advancing local wisdom. Participants expressed their appreciation for the practical knowledge gained and were inspired to apply it to their businesses, with many seeing opportunities to improve their products and better meet market needs.
