Khon Kaen University Faculties Partner to Elevate Demonstration School as Science and Innovation Hub

On May 28, 2025, Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Education, through its Demonstration School, and the Faculty of Technology formalized an academic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at transforming the Demonstration School into a leading center for science projects and innovation. The collaboration seeks to cultivate a new generation of researchers and innovators equipped with 21st-century skills.

The signing ceremony was attended by key university officials, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Issara Kanjug, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sarawut Jakpeng, Vice Dean for Demonstration School and Educational Innovation Development. Representing the Faculty of Technology were Dean Asst. Prof. Dr. Araya Chaoruangrit, along with her administrative team and faculty members.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Araya Chaoruangrit emphasized the Faculty of Technology’s commitment to advancing scientific and innovative activities to help students and faculty achieve academic excellence. She stated that the MOU will grant Demonstration School students access to advanced scientific equipment and hands-on learning experiences, inspiring them to pursue further studies in science and technology. The agreement also aims to foster knowledge exchange and sustainable collaboration between faculty members from both departments, particularly in fields such as biotechnology, geo-technology, food technology, production systems and industrial management technology, and food science and technology. The ultimate goal is to produce high-quality graduates who can drive Thailand’s progress in technology and creative innovation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Issara Kanjug expressed gratitude for the Faculty of Technology’s long-standing support for the Demonstration School. He highlighted that the school serves not only as a “production unit” and “lab school” for the Faculty of Education but also as an “innovative school” for the entire university. This MOU, he noted, strengthens their existing partnership and aligns with Khon Kaen University’s policy of promoting inter-faculty cooperation to enhance education. This includes revising the Demonstration School’s Middle School and Pre-University curricula to integrate with various university faculties, offering students diverse and interest-aligned learning experiences.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Sarawut Jakpeng elaborated on the Demonstration School’s role as a “production unit” and “laboratory” for the Faculty of Education, with aspirations to become a nationally leading “innovative school” focused on nurturing innovators. He acknowledged the continuous support from the Faculty of Technology in student welfare, diverse activities, and teacher development, which has led to nationally and internationally recognized achievements. This renewed collaboration is seen as vital for the Demonstration School’s advancement under its new structure.

This partnership is expected to significantly enhance science and technology education at the Khon Kaen University Demonstration School. Furthermore, it aims to drive educational innovation, produce students proficient in 21st-century skills, and establish the Demonstration School as a model for educational innovation, thereby contributing to societal development and strengthening the nation’s education sector.
