Art, Cultural and Creative Economy Section and Cultural Center received ancient Isan silk from Roi-et folk sage for conservation of art and culture as well as creativity development
Art, Cultural and Creative Economy Section and Cultural Center received ancient Isan silk. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niyom Wonhpongkham, Vice President for Art, Culture, and Creative Economy acted as KKU representative, receiving the silk from Mrs. Thonglim Srihakang and Mrs. Nuan Thosawat, folk sages from Roi-et. The event was participated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buapan Prompakping from Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Khon Kaen University, Ajarn Thitirat Wetsiriyanan from Roi-et Rajabhat University and the team. The silk materials include silk with the pattern of Hang flower, a khit blanket, and Isan thung. The event took place at Buddhasil Sathan, Si Than Lake, KKU.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niyom Wonhpongkham, Vice President for Art, Culture, and Creative Economy thanked the donors for their seeing of the importance of conservation of art and culture by giving the silk materials on this occasion for Khon Kaen University to conserve. The silk will be studied for future academic knowledge. Khon Kaen University has a plan to improve the educational museum especially the Isan Room to be the venue for collection of Isan material and a center of information related to Isan materials.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buapan Prompakping from Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences said that the folk sages are from Ban Song Phi Nong in Tawatburi District, Roi-et. The two sages have this intention to donate the silk to Khon Kaen University for conservation, rehabilitation and development of the silk patterns and silk weaving for younger generation. It will also build benefits in terms of social and economic and will be extended towards the building of contemporary works with patterns of Isan notorious families that contain specific patterns and succeeded from generation to generation for over 200 years.
