KKU Architecture Honours Royal Initiative of HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha through Art and Design for Communities and Youth
The Faculty of Architecture at Khon Kaen University reflects on its collaborative milestone with the BBG Club, using design to empower local communities and underprivileged youth. In 2019, the Faculty of Architecture at Khon Kaen University was granted a prestigious opportunity to collaborate on initiatives with the BBG Club (Bounce Be Good), a sports club established under the royal initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati. This collaboration featured two key projects that demonstrated the power of design in generating social value and fostering community development.
The first project involved designing and developing the commercial branding and visual identity for the Life Community Museum in Bueng Kan Province. A dedicated team of academic staff, including Assistant Professor Kham Chaturongakul, Ph.D., Dr. Akkapol Lamuang, and Dr. Monthida Lertnimanradee, worked alongside the 12th cohort of design students to create art installations and community-based activities. The project received excellent guidance and support from Mr. Sutthipong Suriya, the founder of the Life Community Museum Bueng Kan.
The second project was a creative mural painting initiative at the BBG Club Gymnasium, located within the Juvenile Vocational Training Centre Zone 3 in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The academic team—comprising Assistant Professor Kham Chaturongakul, Ph.D., Dr. Akkapol Lamuang, Dr. Monthida Lertnimanradee, Mr. Nipphich Chanthapreeda, Mr. Chawanaphon Nuamsawat, and Ms. Latthaphon Janthonglang, together with the 12th and 13th cohorts of design students—collaborated to transform the facility into a vibrant learning space, promoting youth development through art and design.
Although these projects were executed in different locations and contexts, they shared a unified purpose: using art and design as tools to enrich communities, benefit society, and unlock human potential. These efforts directly align with Her Royal Highness’s royal vision of expanding opportunities and improving the quality of life for the Thai people.
The Faculty of Architecture at Khon Kaen University proudly recalls these meaningful milestones and expresses its deepest gratitude for the royal benevolence of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati towards Thai youth and communities.
