KKU President Delivers ‘No Gift Policy’ for 2026, Reaffirming Commitment to Transparency and Anti-Corruption

Khon Kaen University enforces a zero-tolerance stance on gifts to foster a culture of integrity, ethics, and good governance across all institutional levels.

KHON KAEN, THAILAND — Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, officially delivered the institutional policy on the refusal of all gifts and tokens of appreciation resulting from the performance of duties, widely known as the “No Gift Policy,” for the 2026 fiscal year. The directive was issued during the Khon Kaen University Administrative Committee Meeting No. 6/2026 to communicate and instil awareness among executives at all levels, ensuring the policy is put into concrete practice across the entire organisation.

During the meeting, the President emphasised that executives from every faculty, college, and office must actively communicate and encourage their staff to adhere strictly to the principles of honesty, integrity, transparency, and accountability. This collective effort aims to establish an institutional value system that is entirely free from all forms of corruption and malpractice.

To reinforce this commitment, Khon Kaen University has issued an official announcement regarding the No Gift Policy, outlining clear guidelines for university personnel and their immediate families as follows:

  • Absolute Prohibition on Gifts: Staff are strictly prohibited from accepting gifts, tokens, or assets of any kind arising from the performance of their duties under all circumstances.

  • Prohibition on Seeking Benefits: Personnel must not seek personal gains by requesting, receiving, or agreeing to accept assets or any other benefits resulting from duties performed on behalf of the university.

  • Avoidance of Conflicts of Interest: Personnel should avoid accepting gifts, rewards, or any financial and non-financial privileges from stakeholders of the university. Exceptions are made only for gifts given traditionally or during festive seasons, which must not exceed a value of 3,000 Baht. If it is necessary to accept a gift exceeding this value, the recipient must report it to their supervisor for appropriate handling.

  • Strict Legal Compliance: All personnel must comply with relevant national regulations, specifically the Regulations of the Office of the Prime Minister on Giving or Receiving Gifts of Government Officials C.E. 2022, and the Announcement of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) regarding the criteria for the acceptance of assets or other benefits on ethical grounds by government officials C.E. 2020.

The implementation of the No Gift Policy reflects Khon Kaen University’s steadfast commitment to building an organisational culture deeply rooted in morality, ethics, and good governance. By embedding a conscience of honesty into the working environment at every tier, KKU aims to remain an institution that earns and sustains trust, confidence, and respect from society over the long term.
